We are looking for a small reliable team of community care workers in the Ashford/Folkestone area. This role would be to support our clients with many different aspects of daily life in their own homes which can include:

 

-Personal Hygiene
-Prompting and administering medications
-Nutrition and Hydration
-Domestic support
-Companionship
-Shopping
-Accessing the community
-Supporting to appointments

 

Work available would be between the hours of 7am and 10pm but we can be flexible on days and times worked! Weekdays and weekends are available.

On- call coordinator

The focus of this role is to respond and resolve calls from our Clients and Care Staff outside of normal office hours.

Given the nature of what we do, Care in Kent operates 24 hours a day, over 365 days a year to ensure the safety and well-being of our Client’s. Our On Call Coordinator will be required to work morning, evenings and weekends. Full time hours available.

What will you be doing as Care in Kent’s On Call Coordinator?

 

·        Identifying and escalating priority issues in line with policies and procedures

·        Taking calls from Care Staff and our clients or their representatives, some of which may be urgent

·        Arranging for alternative Care Staff to provide care if someone becomes unavailable

·        Logging all calls and notifying the office team of any events or action relating to their Care Staff or clients

·        Use our data system to locate and provide information to Care Staff and clients

·        Request assistance and advice from client’s family members, out-of-hours GP’s and the emergency services as required

 

Essential Skills and Experience

 

We are looking for someone who has excellent communication skills, is well organised and committed! You will be capable of handling varied calls whilst ensuring that all are progressed to conclusion, and details of all actions have been recorded accurately.

Recruitment and induction process 


1. Initial application - Apply through one of our adverts, on the website or
send your CV over to jobs@careinkent.co.uk

2. Pre-screening - You will receive a call from our recruiter who will go
through your information, ask a few quick questions and tell you more about the
job role.

3. Face to face interview - If you are successful at stage 2 you will be
invited to our office located at Evegate Business Park. Your interview should
take approximately 20 minutes. Our recruiter will tell you what Care In Kent
offers and what the recruitment and induction process looks like.

Either that day or the following day you will receive an email informing you if
you have been successful.

4. Recruitment checks - Our recruiter will be in touch to arrange a mutually
convenient time for you to bring your ID documents and DBS payment over to the
office. Your DBS and references will be sent. One of our Care Coordinators will
contact you to arrange two shadow shifts. You will meet with an experienced
care worker and visit two of the people we support to observe routines.

5. Training - All Care in Kent staff attend free mandatory training which meets
the requirements of the nationally recognised Care Certificate Induction
Standards. Our training is a mixture of e-learning and classroom based
learning. Training is carried out in an easily accessible location in Ashford
with our experienced trainer. If you have valid training certificates already please
let our recruiter know. Training must be renewed annually for you to remain
compliant.

Before offering shifts we must receive a clear DBS check, two satisfactory
references and all training completed.

Once all recruitment checks and training are complete we will issue you with
your Care In Kent ID Badge.

Where is your office?

Is there a bus that goes to your office?
Yes the number 10 bus from Ashford and Folkestone stops on Hythe Roadby the crossroads. From there it’s a 10 minute walk down station road andEvegate Business Park will be on your left.


Is it only community care?
Yes we only provide care and support to people who still live in their own homes.


I don’t drive, is that a problem?
No, not at all. As long as you are happy to walk, cycle or use public transport!


I have never worked in care, can I still apply?
Yes of course, experience is not essential. We provide all training and shadow shifts.


Will I be working alone?

We have both lone working and double handed shifts.


What is the process from interview to work?
If you are successful at interview you will be informed either that day or the following day. We will need to apply for your DBS Check and references. When these are back and you have completed all mandatory induction training we will be able to offer you work. 


What ID will you need to see?

riginal copies of a valid passport. If not UK passport a Residence permit or right to work in the UK documents. A provisional or full driving license and birth certificate. We will also need two proof of address dated within 3months.

How much is the DBS Payment?

An enhanced DBS will cost £65.30. We cannot use a basic one.


Do I pay Care in Kent the DBS money?
Yes please make payment by cash or card and we will send your DBSapplication off.


How long does it take for a DBS to come back?
Unfortunately we cannot put a time on it, between 1 day and 8 weeks. Usually takes 1-2 weeks on average.

What does the practical training include?
Practical personal care, Moving & Handling, First Aid and Medication. Safeguarding, Dementia, End of Life and Epilepsy are also covered.


Will I get training certificates?
Yes you will receive certificates for all training you complete with us.


Do you have a uniform and how much does it cost? 

This depends on if the client would like you to wear a uniform. We provide you with a smart navy polo top


How much will I get paid an hour? 

Starts at £9 per hour and can go up to £10.50 per hour.


Weekly or Monthly Pay?
You will be paid on the last Friday of every month.


Do you pay mileage?
Yes we pay mileage and mileage expenses when a client is in your car. We also have some clients that pay your travel to and from the visit. You can also claim carer expenses using the P87 claim form https://www.gov.uk/guidance/claim-income-tax-relie... 


I get an ID Card?

Yes you will be issued an ID Card after you have completed and passed your mandatory induction training.
